Day 5: Backlinks = Good Organic Search Engine Boost

July 18, 2008 by · 1 Comment

Yesterday we covered the idea behind using Social bookmarking websites to generate traffic. Since I started using the auto-social poster program that I discussed yesterday I have tripled my daily views! Yes, tripled!

Auto Social Poster

Submit to over 50+ Social Bookmarking Sites Automatically!

This is all on auto-pilot now and I don’t have to spend countless hours attending to the social websites and  can focus on other traffic generating sources. An extreme lifesaver if you ask me! I was spending way to much time before on trying to bookmark my sites and really wasted alot of precious resources.

Today I’m going to discuss the benefit of backlinks, where to get them, and how you should focus your time generating backlinks. As stated in some of the previous days search engine optimization is crucial so that the Google spiders know what the content of your website is about. Ranking well in Google and other search engines goes farther then search engine optimization. If search engine optimization is your only mode of attack in your attempt to rank high then you probably won’t have significant results. That’s because Google’s search engines, and many others depend on something called backlinks.

A backlink is when another website has a link to your website somewhere on their website. That’s it! Although your goal isn’t to have just ANY website link to your website. The goal is to have a website with high page rank and that is also in your niche to link to you. Google will then notice that the high ranking PR website has linked to your website and thus deems that your website is of value and significance.

Social bookmarking websites are a great backlink source, although I’d like to discuss today some other alternatives just to give you an overview of the idea of backlinking. In the upcoming days I will break down each backlinking idea even further and give you some true expert advice regarding the various techniques.

Article directories are a fantastic source for backlinks. As I have said many times over the course of my 30 Day Guide Google LOVES content. Article directories are only content, and usually very unique content. Thus Google loves these websites and ranks them extremely well. Therefore don’t overlook the article directories, you may need to get out of your normal routine and write some content. I will discuss article directories in depth in an upcoming day.

Blog directories and general website directories can also be great sources for backlinks. Although it really depends on the source of the backlinks and how Google ranks that specific directory.  Don’t just join any and all directories, make sure that they aren’t ‘spammy’ and that Google actually appreciates them.

Please keep in mind today is just a general overview and introduction to the backlinking idea and how it will benefit you in Google’s search engines. Each method I’ve posted above or will post in today’s guide will be reviewed much more in depth. So stay tuned for the upcoming days!

Here are some things that you absolutely DON’T want to do when it comes to generating backlinks. Things such as link exchanges, link exchanges are extremely obvious to Google’s spiderbots and Google will hurt and potential ‘slap’ your account as a result of participating in these programs. So again do not participate in link exchange programs. You are putting your web domain at risk of literally being slapped off of the organic search results. Not something you ever want to have to deal with.

Here are some fast facts in regards to good Google Backlinking techniques:

  • Relevance of backlink

You want backlinks from web-sites that are similar and relevant to your websites/blogs subject! Don’t try and get a link from a trucking website if you have a web-site on anti-virus software.

  • Pagerank of Linking Page

The pagerank of that specific website that is linking to you is extremely important. Page rank is on a scale from one to ten. If the website you are getting linked from has a page rank of 5 or above it will significantly help your site in the organic search results. I’ve read a statistic that one PR 7 link is like having over 1 million PR 1 links!

  • Anchor Text Content and Link

It’s a good idea to have your subject/main keyword in the link that is coming in if at all possible. If your website is about Bass Fishing and that is the main keyword/content on your site then try to have the link’s title coming in as Bass Fishing rather then something like Fishing Website or Frank’s Website. The anchor text is very important as well, but if it is out of your control then it is still good having a high PR link.

  • IP Seperation

This is extremely important. Most new people think that having one host (one I.P.) that hosts all your websites and interlinking them is a great idea to gain backlinks. Guess what? Google identifies your I.P. associated with your website, and then determines I.P. address of your other websites. If they notice that they are all interlinking from the same I.P. then you haven’t accomplished anything worthwhile and may actually be damaging your potential page rank. Don’t link all your websites together unless you have a specific host for each seperate domain.

  • Number of outgoing links

If you have found a website that has a high PR and that is related to your website and willing to put your link on then great! Just one more thing to consider though. If this website has 1,000’s or even tens of thousands of outgoing links to other websites like yours then the PR that is distributed to your website is significantly less than if that website only had 5-10 outgoing links.

Welcome to the idea of backlinks and the significance that they have on your websites page rank and organic rank! Most people really don’t understand the true significance of this and dismiss it. Don’t and try to build a great list of backlinks that are content associated and with a high PR. I’ve seen some instant results on other websites that I run once I have generated a backlink from a high PR website. It can make or break your Google rankings, so get started on the process today.

Day 4: Blog Traffic via Social Bookmarking Websites

July 17, 2008 by · 3 Comments

Today we are going to focus on different methods and ways to gain traffic to your blog. Traffic is the essential key to any successful internet website. Without it your website, blog, or whatever you are doing will fail. Unfortunately that’s just the fact. With internet traffic comes things like advertisers, sales, and even a profitable ‘site’ that could be resold.

Obviously, traffic is money! Most beginners don’t know where to start to gain traffic and typically partake in different methods, blackhat or whitehat, that may harm them in the long run. Yes, even some traffic CAN harm you! So the goal isn’t to get any and all traffic but to get targeted traffic as well as legitimate methods for obtaining that traffic.

Most specifically today I’m going to be discussing social bookmarking websites and how you can use them to gain a significant amount of traffic. Over the past 4 or so years the internet has transformed from Web 1.0 into the 2.0 realm. Web 2.0 is here and with it has come the social bookmark websites.

The concept of social bookmarking is to provide a medium in which users can organize their bookmarks while displaying their bookmarks and having a place to find other interesting websites. Due to the increased popularity over the years these social bookmarking websites have a tremendous readership and thus can equate to a tremendous amount of traffic if you have a proper method of ‘attack’.

How can we use these social bookmarking websites to our advantage? Well simply by putting our websites out there and bookmarking our own websites. That won’t guarantee an instant success though, your website WILL need to have some sort of benefit to the readers. Therefore the first key to having a website or blog that is popular among the social bookmarking websites is to have content! I know what your thinking, more content? When can I ever stop having content! Truth is that your websites will always need content and as technology progresses and Google updates their algorithm’s towards benefiting original content you want to stay ahead of the game.

Take a look at your blog, or website, and determine if you would actually WANT to read that blog or website. Look at it from an objective point of view, try taking out all your emotion involved and determine whether that website will actually benefit the reader in some shape of form. If you have determined that your blog or website fills that criteria then it is time to jump to the next stage.

It’s time to start bookmarking your website on social bookmarking websites. I’m going to list some of the websites below (it will be a long list) that you can go to and bookmark your website. This will be a long and tedious task but it will be worth it in the long run. It’s a great way to build a readership! Below this list I will tell you the lazy man’s alternative, a method that I use and LOVE!

Social Bookmarking Websites:

Phew, what a list. Anyways, these are the best and only social bookmarking websites that I use. The rest I haven’t noticed any real benefit from and I typically won’t waste time with them. Here are some tips for you in regards to using these social bookmarking websites efficiently.

Tip 1: Don’t use your real name!

The goal of a social bookmarking website is that someone ELSE on the internet found your website and then decided to ‘bookmark’ it. It isn’t meant for website’s to spam them time over time again and have them as the only one to bookmark the website.

Tip 2: Use a different email

Again, the point isn’t to use your main and only email. Create an additional email if needed to create these accounts to use. The point is having someone ELSE and not yourself bookmarking your website. If you keep bookmarking your own website you are risking having your IP banned by the social bookmarking websites. NOT what you want to happen. Use a different email, like hotmail, gmail, or yahoo.

I could really go on and on, but the key to doing a successful bookmarking campaign is to not SPAM the services. Play within reason and play smart.

LAZY MAN’S ALTERNATIVE!

Obviously social bookmarking techniques are time consuming but extremely beneficial. As with any business idea of venture it is best to try and automate the process. Freeing up your time and allowing for everything to go on auto-pilot.

Thankfully a program called Auto Social Poster was designed. Auto Social Poster was created to automate bookmarking for your blog posts from hundreds or even thousands of blogs! No more messing around with each social bookmarking website adding your page after you have made a blog post.

Auto Social Poster will add your new blog posts to an unlimited number of social bookmarking accounts. Did you read that correctly? UNLIMITED! The only caveat is the time to set up the social bookmarking accounts! Auto Social Poster will tell you how to correctly set up many social bookmarking accounts although as I stated once you have created the account and set it up in your back office of WordPress you can then have them all bookmark your website, or design how you want them to bookmark.

Social bookmark websites rank your website according to how many people ‘bookmarked’ it. The more, the higher your blog will be in the social bookmarking pages. Thus, what if you had 100 or so accounts setup to ‘bookmark’ automatically instantly after you published your latest blog post.

Very impressive if you ask me. Check out this picture.

The results of Auto Social Poster...

Yes! That’s a result of traffic generated from the use of this automated program. I can’t even believe what it has done for me, obviously it will work great for you.

Feel free to check out the website for Auto Social Pro. It is somewhat expensive but easily one of the most beneficial automated programs I have purchased to date. I can’t even express the benefits of this program. I used to systematically bookmark my websites for all the social sites listed above. This took on average 1 1/2+ hours and that was for ONE account and only one blog posting! Now I bookmark instantly with more then one account.

Day 3: WordPress Essentials – Keyword Analysis & More!

July 14, 2008 by · 15 Comments

Great job yesterday again! You have established a WordPress blog with the necessary plug-ins and got a good view of the WordPress backoffice. Today we are going to focus on getting your first blog post up and learning about Keyword placement for optimal search engine optimization. Remember, the key here is to have high organic placement. High organic google placement means that when someone searches for a certain term, like bass fishing, that you will place in the results of bass fishing on the first page.

Therefore today we need to learn a little about the essential of keyword analysis and S.E.O. optimization of your blogs. Google likes content, ORIGINAL content that people will enjoy reading. If you are planning on copying other people’s articles and not being creative at all then plan on not ranking well on Google’s search engine.

Not only is it important to have original content but it is also very important to have content that is updated regularly. I suggest daily blog posts, or if this isn’t possible then I suggest every other day posting. Google’s webcrawlers will see that you update often and will thus increase your organic search placement. If for some reason you aren’t capable or writing or don’t think that you can post original content everyday then there are solutions. Content writers, article writers, blog writers and just about every type of position necessary you can outsource. Saving you time and money and allowing you to focus on whatever elements you are good at. Rates vary depending on the word count, and many other factors. Expect to pay $5/article though and typically the turn around is good. I suggest Elance as they are constantly reliable and have the best prices and the best writers.

ELANCE

If you have decided that you are going to write original content and don’t have a problem doing that then go for it! Now its time to understand keyword placement and how to set up your blog posts so they are Google and search engine friendly. Here are the essentials to creating the keyword associated post.

  • Use ‘keyword’ in Title of Blogpost
  • Use ‘keyword’ in first 90 characters of post
  • Use ‘keyword’ once again in your post!

That’s it! For some reason that’s all it takes to have a good Google association for a keyword. Now this doesn’t mean that if you do this you are automatically going to top the Google charts for those keywords. No way Jose, but this is just one of the factors that is going to help you build a foundation for your blog.

Your goal for the original content postings is to capture as many popular keyword’s for your dedicated topic. So head over to Wordtracker again, and look for the top keyword searches regarding your ‘general’ keyword theme. Now use those for title’s for posts and follow the criteria above for placing that keyword in your post. This is essential as you want to try and target as many of the popular searches as possible thus allowing you to sort of throw some bait out there for people to ‘catch’!

So far today we have covered the topics of Keyword Research for blog posts and sources for you to outsource your work. Don’t be intimidated or feel overwhelmed if you are at this point. It takes some time to get used to this sort of stuff, but don’t sweat it! I’m going to end today early because I know sometimes that people feel overwhelmed. Yesterday I had someone emailing me with some additional questions and I could tell they felt overwhelmed. Go ahead and familiarize yourself today with the WordPress system and create your first post! Make it an introduction post and let people know about you.
